I never notice we're low on filters, detergent or batteries until we're completely out

Small household items run out at the worst times because nobody tracks them until the moment you need one and there isn't one. I'd like a really lightweight way to log 'we're running low' on common household items and get a simple reminder or shopping list before we hit zero, without setting up a full inventory system.
